Understanding Vietnam visa entry / exit date and validity period
The visa exit date is the date by which you must leave Vietnam. For an e-visa, it is normally 30 days from the date of entry stated on the e-visa.
What is the visa validity period?
Visa validity period is a specified period of time in which visa holders are allowed to temporarily reside, travel, and enter or exit Vietnam. The validity period is clearly written on the visa document or on the immigration stamp affixed by the airport authorities.
How long is the validity period of Vietnam visa?
Depending on the type and purpose, a visa for Vietnam usually lasts for 30 days:
-
Tourist visa - Granted to tourists visiting Vietnam with a maximum validity of 3 months (90 days) but can only stay temporarily for a maximum of 1 month (30 days) each time.
-
Business visa - Usually valid for 3 months (90 days), granted to foreigners entering Vietnam for conferences or other business activities.
What is Vietnamese date format?
The format is usually dd/mm/yyyy, for example, May 11th, 2023 would be written as 11/05/2023.
Vietnam e-visa entry and exit date
On an e-visa, the entry and exit date is written in Vietnamese right under your passport number as follows:
- THỊ THỰC CÓ GIÁ TRỊ MỘT LẦN, TỪ NGÀY 12/05/2023 (Good for single entry valid from)
- ĐẾN NGÀY 11/06/2023 (until)

I am Canadian Passport holder having expiry date of Passport is August 13,2025 and if I wish to travel Vietnam during February04,2025 to February 17,2025 ,will be possible to get VISSA for Vietnamand can visit as tourist or not
@Maheshchandra Naik, yes, it is fine as your passport only needs to be valid for 30 days beyond the visa expiry date. However, we recommend you to confirm with your airline, as some airlines may require a passport validity of at least 6 months to allow boarding.
Hi, I applied for a single entry Vietnam e-visa with a validity date of 26/12/2024 until 7/1/2025. However, I put down the intended date of entry as 29/12/2024 and length of stay as 4 days. Originally, I planned to enter on 29/12/2024 but now I just found an earlier flight. Can I enter on 27/12/2024? It is 1 day after the e-Visa validity date but 2 days before the original date of entry. Which overrides which? Does the e-Visa validity date override the intended date of entry as the latter one seems more of a planning thing for the passenger?
@James Yuan, unfortunately, it is not possible to arrive earlier than the date shown on your e-visa. We recommend that you apply for a new visa or stick to the originally registered date of arrival.
On visa my entry date 12/02/2025 but my flight booking date 14/02/2025 can i travel and enter Vietnam on 2/3 days after entry date on visa
@SANDIP RAVASAHEB PATIL, yes, you can enter Vietnam 2–3 days after the entry date stated on your visa, as long as your travel falls within the validity period of the e-Visa.
I applied my visa and my visa issue today When I apply I wrote 13-19 December But my flight I postponed 14-21 December They wrote on the visa application expired on 19 December What I have to do
@Mazen Mohammed Ahmed, your visa is valid from December 13rd to 19th. Therefore, if you want to stay beyond that, you will need to reapply for a new one reflecting your updated travel dates.
How inportant is the intended port of entry and exit? We plan on flying into Hanoi and flying out of Ho Chi Min, though if we decide to just stay in the north and fly out of Hanoi is that an issue?
@Hales, that should not be an issue. You can exit Vietnam from either Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City using the same visa without any problem.
Hey, I have an evisa from 5th Dec 2024 till 10 the Dec 2024 but unfortunately I cannot go on these dates now due to some emergency and would like to go by 27th December or later. Do I have to apply for new evisa? Would it be a problem? The website gives me error when I try to submit new form!
@Allia Bukhari, your current e-Visa is valid until 10 December, which is likely why the system does not allow you to apply for a new one. We recommend waiting until after 10 December to submit a new application for your new intended travel dates.
Hello! I have apply for a E- visa to enter Hanoi Vietnam on the 08/12/2024 and exiting 21/12/2024. My plan has changed and now I will be arriving into Da Nang Vietnam on 05/12/2024 instead. I have apply for a new visa but have not got a up date. My question is would that be ok If I arrive into Da nang instead on the 05/12/2024 and not Hanoi on the 08/12/2024?
@sally giao ho huynh, unfortunately, you cannot enter Vietnam earlier than the date stated on your e-Visa. Therefore, we recommend applying for a new one with a start date of 5 December instead.
Hi. I applied for a single entry 30-day eVisa and provided an approximate departure/Arrival date (25th Nov - 26th Dec 2024) as I hadn’t finalized my travel plans yet. I arrived in Ho Chi Minh on the 1st of December and the officer at the port of entry stamped my passport for arrival on the 1st of December but to exist on the 26th pf December. In my mind I would have 30-days from the date of arrival. Now I realize that this wasn't the case. What do you advise me to do? I am willing to extend my visa or pay a fee for the 3 days of overstay, but I want to do the right thing according to the law. My flight can't be changed, therefor I must leave in the 29th of December. (Applied with an Iraqi passport and a Spanish resident permit) Thank you
@Ali, Welcome to Vietnam! If you’d like to extend your stay, you can apply for an extension in Ho Chi Minh City. Here is the recommended contact:

We leave australia on 4/12/2024 at 11:30pm, arrive in vietnam 5/12/2024. I put 5/12/2024 as our entry date as that is the date that we enter vietnam. Will it be a problem that we leave Australia technically on the 4/12/2024?
@Keryn Pauley, there’s no issue as long as your actual arrival in Vietnam matches the entry date on your visa, which is 5 December 2024. The departure date from Australia does not affect your visa validity.
In August I applied for a 90 day multiple entry visa from January 20 2025 until April 19 2025 and it was granted. I then applied for a 30 day single entry visa in October for October 12 2024 until November 9 2024 and it was granted. Is my first 90 day visa for January still valid?
@Nigel Daws, actually, you cannot hold two valid Vietnam e-Visas at the same time. When a new visa is issued, it generally overrides the previous one, meaning you can only use the most recently granted visa. In your case, the 30 day visa issued in October likely invalidated the 90-day visa for January. We recommend checking directly with the Vietnam immigration authority or the official e-visa website to confirm the status of your 90 day visa.

My visa is from 30 Nov 24 until 31 Dec 24 however I’ll be travelling from the 30 Nov 24 until the 19 Dec 24. Will it be an issue that I applied for a 32 day visa but only staying for 20 days?
@Donna Soi, that’s fine. You don’t need to stay for the entire validity of your visa; just ensure you exit before it expires.
I recieved my vietnam evisa today however it shows "good for single entry valid from( 18/12/2024) until 30/12/2024, its not even a month, does it mean i should exit by 30/12/2024?
@Tamizhaisha, yes, December 30 is the expiry date. Therefore, you must exit on or before that date!
Hi! I have 2 questions : (1) I applied for an E-visa earlier with start date 05/11/24 and exit date 25/11/24 but I did not travel on those dates. I want to Travel from 01/12/24 to 30/12/24. Can I apply for a new E-visa? (2) Can I apply for 90-day validity Visa I'm in Indian?
@Priyanka Tyagi, yes, you can simply forfeit the current visa and apply for a new 90-day e-Visa. That won’t be an issue.
We have just realised that our visa is for 3 months and on the e visa departure date it say 21st December but our airline ticket is 22nd Dec. Is it best to sort it out at the airport or just pay a fine on the day of departure, because otherwise we will have to re do our e visas and I’m worried they won’t come in time.
@Lyndon Costin, if you cannot change your flight ticket, it is advisable to contact a travel agency in Vietnam to assist with extending your visa for another week. Paying the overstaying fee is an option, but it may negatively affect your future visits to Vietnam.
Can I enter Vietnam after the date on e-visa intended date of arrival as long as it is with in the 30 days?
@Mira Susa, yes, you can arrive anytime before the expiry date on the e-visa.
:. I have no exact date of arrival but is 30 day visa valid for entry for 90 days? 2: I have no EXIT planned but intend to travel South to North and exit to Cambodia before travelling on to other countries. Is this permitted in my e-visa application?
@John Ahern, If you don’t have an exact date, you can apply for a 90-day visa and ensure you enter and exit Vietnam within its validity period. You can arrive anytime before the visa’s expiry date; it’s not necessary to arrive on the exact date specified on the visa.
flying into Hanoi and have several internal flights within Viet Nam whilst on holidays, so end up flying out of Ho Chi Minh to come home to Australia confirming I state Ho Chi Minh as my exit? also asked about province do I select Ho Chi Minh as province since this is my last stop before flying home.
@Angela, yes, you can choose Ho Chi Minh City as your port of exit, even if you’ll be visiting other cities before finishing your trip in HCMC.
Hi I am travelling from India and will have my return flight on 1st Jan 2025, however my passport expires on 1st July 2025. Will this be an issue?
@Akansha, we believe there shouldn’t be any issues with your current passport. However, since you’re not traveling until January 2025, it would be best to renew your passport before applying for a visa to Vietnam.
Hi there I applied as an Australian for a tourist visa to vietnam. I put the dates from 12 November 2024 -30 November 2024. I just realised that the approved visa that I recieved is for 12 December 2024 - 30 December 2024 (exactly a month later). Is there any chance that they decided I could enter for those specific dates in December instead, or has their been a mistake? Both my partner and I checked the dates before submitting, so I don't think it was on my end, but happy to cop it and apply for a new one.. unless the same thing is going to happen again. Thanks!
@Georgia, Unfortunately, we can’t confirm how the mistake occurred (whether system-related or on your end). However, if you plan to travel in November, you may need to apply for a new visa with the correct arrival date. All the best!
Hello, I received my e-visa for single entry to Vietnam. My visa is valid from 3 nov'24 to 18 nov'24. However, as per my new return flight schedule, I will have to leave at 3am 19' nov 2024. I plan to clear all immigration + security clearance by 10:30pm of 18 nov'2024. Since my flight time is 3 hrs later than my Visa expiry, will this cause me an issue at airport ? If yes, do I need to re-apply for visa or try for extension of visa?
@Hrishikesh, there should be no issue with leaving Vietnam 3 hours after your visa expiry. However, if you prefer, you can apply for a new visa with extended validity to cover your flight time.
Hi, I applied for a visa for my travel from the 12/11/2024 until 28/11/2024. But my visa came back 1 day earlier 27/11/2024. I have 1 week until my trip and I am unsure if I should apply for another one to avoid any troubles. I am also unsure if it would even come in time.
@Trung Viet Nguyen, you can exit on 28/11, and many of our previous customers have done the same without issues. However, to avoid potential complications for future visits, we recommend applying for a new evisa with an updated exit date since you still have 9 days remaining before your departure date.
I applied for Vietnam e-visa, entered 7/12/2024 as entry date and 21/12/2024 as exit date. I specified 14 days as my intended length of stay, which means I'll staying in Vietnam till 20/12/2024,but asked to grant evisa from 7/12 to 21/12, which is one day extra. Do I need to put exact number of days between entry and exit, which is 15 in my case, but I specified 14 days, I already submitted the application, it's in progress. Does this issue cause evisa rejection?
@Sonu, no problem at all—you can exit on or before the expiry date, and the extra day won’t cause any issues upon arrival.
I applied for Vietnam e-visa, entered 7/12/2024 as entry date and 21/12/2024 as exit date. I specified 14 days as my intended length of stay, which is within the requested entry and exit date. Have I done anything wrong?
@Sonu, as long as you travel within the approved entry and exit dates mentioned above, there should be no issue; the validity will fully cover your 14-day stay in Vietnam.
I’m arriving in Da Nang on the 18/12/24 and leaving on 31/12/24 but my visa has come back with exit date 30/12/24. Will this be a problem or do I have to redo my visa ?
@Deirdre Kriz, we believe there should be no issue if you exit one day after your visa expiry date. However, to avoid any potential problems with future visits, it’s best to apply for a new visa with an updated exit date.
If I leave to a another country not of residence and return, does that count as a new entry and reset the duration of stay?
@Steven Phan, yes, this is commonly known as a “visa run.” You can leave for another country (not necessarily your home country) and then return with a new visa and an extended length of stay.
Hi, I got granted a 90 day evisa online from the day I entered Vietnam to a few weeks from now however I wasn’t able to get signal before I entered immigration so I have a normal tourist visa stamp in my passport. Can I still use my evisa which is valid for longer? And if not is there a way to get it validated without leaving the country? I am in Hanoi. Thank you
@J, there’s no way to use the granted Evisa while you already have a tourist visa in your passport. You can either extend your current visa or exit Vietnam and apply for a new e-visa with longer validity.
I have applied for e-visa but in the meantime the date I will leave was change and I will be leaving later. Can I apply for new visa even if first one was not yet approved. I have one week to go so want to do it now to Save time.
@Aleksandra Weronika Niemasz, if you have only one week left before your departure date, we recommend waiting for your current visa to be approved to avoid duplication and potential issues. You can arrive later than the date you selected on the form, as long as you exit before the visa expires.
Hello, I was meant to arrive in Danang today from Australia, however ended up getting sick. I am now leaving 5 days later and changed my flights to arrive in Hanoi. Is my e-visa still valid as I’m still within my visa dates, but arriving in a different location? Thank you
@Joel B, yes, your e-visa is valid as long as you enter Vietnam within the approved visa dates. There’s no problem with arriving in Hanoi instead of Da Nang, as the e-visa allows entry through any of the eligible international entry points.
Is it true that the Vietnam e-visa is valid from the date when making the application than the date of physical entry to the country? I have made the application a month before my arrival and I was planning to make a 7-day trip only using a single entry visa. Thank you for your reply.
Hello, the validity of an e-visa begins from the date you selected on the application form, not from the date you submit the application or the actual date you enter Vietnam.
I just received my e-visa, which is valid for entry from 22/11/2024 to 27/11/2024. Does this mean the visa is only valid until 27/11/2024, and I must leave Vietnam by 28/11/2024? Or does it simply mean I can enter Vietnam anytime between 22/11/2024 and 27/11/2024, with the visa being valid for 30 days from my entry date? My flight departs from Vietnam at 00:10 on 28/11/2024...
@Jay, Your e-Visa expires on 27/11, so you will need to exit Vietnam on or before that date. You can either change your flight or apply for a new e-Visa with a longer validity period.
Can we change our return flight date (2 days later) if we spend less than 30 days in Vietnam. On my husband’s visa, it says entry 12/10/24 exit 05/11. We want to leave on 07/11. Is it possible? Thank you.
@Catherine Matringe, No, it is not possible. 05/11 is the expiry date, and you must leave on or before this date to avoid overstaying fees.
IF visa application has exist from ho chin minh city 2/1/2025, but now flight changes leaving 03/01/2025 will i need to redo the visa application. Also we are flying back from bali with a 4 hr stop over on the 9/1/2025 does this need to be mentioned also
@David Lando, your visa expires on 02 Jan, so you must leave the country on or before that date. If you plan to fly on 03 Jan, you may need to apply for a new visa with an updated arrival date. For your layover on 09 Jan, if you stay within the airport and don’t pass through customs, no visa is required. However, if you leave the airport, you will need a separate visa for the stopover.
I applied for a visa for 10-28 and have an opportunity to come earlier ... will they let me enter in earlier or do i have to wait for my registered entry date?
@Vanessa, unfortunately, you cannot arrive before the date stated on the evisa. If you want to travel earlier, you will need to apply for a new visa with a new arrival date.
Hello! I will be traveling to Vietnam soon, and before I obtain my E-Visa for traveling, I have a few quick questions. - First, I want to confirm that it is okay to enter Vietnam after the date when the visa first becomes valid? For example, if I can first enter Vietnam on November 16th (according to the visa), but I actually arrive on November 20th. - And, can I leave Vietnam before the last date the visa says I can stay in Vietnam? For example, if the visa says I can stay in Vietnam until December 14th, but I end up leaving Vietnam on December 10th.
@Jared, yes, there is no issue with that. You can enter/exit Vietnam anytime between the allowed entry and exit dates on the evisa.
Hello, The e-visa application form contains these 2 fields: "Grant e-visa valid from______ to_____" and "intended date of entry". If my trip to Vietnam is Dec 21/24 to Jan 7/25, but I would like a 90-day visa, then for the first field, can I put "Dec 1/24 to Feb 28/25" and for the second field, put intended date of entry as Dec 21/24?
@Caroline Nguyen, yes, it is fine to put the dates as Dec 1, 2024, to Feb 28, 2025, but the final decision will be up to the Immigration Office. However, if your stay is less than 90 days on a single entry, your visa application will most likely be approved.
Hi, I’m entering Vietnam on June 20th but my Visa is granted June 19th. Is it okay to enter 1 day after?
@Anna Anousaya, yes, that is fine. You can arrive on June 20th without any problems.
We applied and received our e visas for Vietnam. I put on the application the dates of our arrival ..May 31st and departure..July 6th .... But the visa says good for entry valid from 31st May until 29 th June single entry. Does this mean we can arrive between the 31st May and 29 th June or do we have to exit by the 29 th June? I also was under the impression the visa was good for 90 days...Can you please clarify.thank you.We are coming from Australia.
@Karen Banks, the e-Visa will be valid from the entry and exit dates you choose on the application form. In this case, you may have chosen May 31 to June 29, which is why it was issued for that period. If you want to stay longer, you can reapply with new dates or exit on or before June 29 as indicated.
I'm won't be in Vietnam until September. How far out can you apply for a visa? Say I get it in June, Does it start when I get in the country or when I get the visa?
@Deegan Lambert, you can apply for an e-visa anytime you wish. The validity of the e-visa will begin from the date you select on the application form, not from the date of application or the date you enter Vietnam.
We were supposed to arrive vietnam on the 22nd of March, hence we applied for a visa which was starting from 22nd March, however our flight was preponed to 20th March as the airline cancelled the flight, and now we are slated to arrive on March 21, but our visa starts from 22nd March. There is not enough time to reapply for a visa. Can we still travel ?
@Ravi Shah, it is advised that you contact the airline to see if they allow you to use the e-visa for entry on 21 March, as there may not be a problem at the Vietnam airport for arriving one day earlier.
Hi, I got my visa valid from 5th April 2024. Although I'm travelling on 4th April 2024 from Delhi, India through VietJet Airline. But, I will arrive in Hanoi on 5th April, 2024. Is my visa still valid?
@Kritika Gumber, Yes, as long as you arrive on the 5th of April, it will be fine, even though you depart on the 4th of April. Please note that the visa's validity starts from the date of arrival, not the flight date.
Me and my husband's e-visa to Vietnam was issued today, but we've noted that the document is not showing the entry/exit point. There is no information/field for that. We are sure that we've fulfilled the form correctly, so, we're wondering if (i) the e-visa is not showing such information anymore; or (ii) the e-visa was incorrectly issued. We're worried because most of the websites are indicating that we can only entry and exit thorough the entry/exit port indicated in the visa - but, in our case, there is no such information Do you know what may have happened? is it normal, or the e-visa is incorrect?
@Pedro Miranda, The new e-visa format, effective August 2023, will not indicate the port of entry or exit. You are eligible to use it for entry and exit at the following ports:
https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/documents/20181/117155/List-of-evisa-port.pdf/c774e24b-1ab8-4fb6-9ac1-dcdfaccecf8e
I apply e visa from 16/3/24- 3/4/24 Somehow I got the visa put the wrong date of the exit is 2/4/24 What can I do now ?
@Chau Nguyen, it is not possible to amend the current e-visa. Therefore, it is advised that you exit the country before the expiry date or apply for a new visa with a date reflecting your updated travel plan.
we are UK passport holders. we are stying in vietnam for two nights when travelling Sydney London. We are doing the same thing when returning London Sydney. that will be 29 days later. Is that allowed?
Hello Paul Moore,
Yes, that is correct. You can stay for up to 45 days without a visa using your UK passport, and you may enter and exit as many times as you wish.
Hello, I got a multiple entry e-visa for a cruise trip, with the entry seaport correct but the exit seaport is not correct. Do I have to re-apply for a visa?, or because is a multiple-entry visa shouldn't be a problem?. Thanks in advanced for your answer
@Jose, Yes, that would not be a problem with the multiple entry visa as you can enter/exit Vietnam for multiple times within a given period.
after my 90 days , how long do i need to be away to be able to come back for another 90 days?
@Tobias, once you exit Vietnam, you can immediately apply for a new 3-month visa to re-enter the country; no wait time is required.
We are from Australia. We applied Evisa from 26 Jan to 16 Feb 2024. But our flight was rescheduled till 17 Feb 2024. Our E visa is good for single entry from 26 Jan to 16 Feb 2024. It is okay to leave one day later? Thank you!
In most cases, it is acceptable to leave Vietnam one day after your visa's expiry date. However, please be aware that this could result in a fine for overstaying and potentially cause complications with future visa applications. Therefore, we strongly recommend exiting on or before the visa expiry date, if possible.
Does until the 17th of January mean I have to leave Vietnam on the 16th or is the 17th my exit date?
@David Kouwenberg, the expiry date is the last day you are allowed to stay in Vietnam. Therefore, you are advised to leave on or before that date.
I entered the incorrect exit date on my eVisa application. My flight out of Vietnam is 1 day after the exit date on my eVisa. Will I be allowed to exit the country one day after my visa expires?
From what our guests have experienced, exiting Vietnam a day after their visa's expiry date has generally not posed any issues. However, please be aware that in a worst-case scenario, overstaying could result in a fine of 500,000 VND per day.
I am entering Vietnam on 1/28 with an eVisa then joining a tour that leaves Vietnam 3 days later. 20 days later I return to Vietnam but entering in Hanoi. Is there a minimum length of time between two single entry eVisas? I looked at a Multiple Entry eVisa but that seems to limit me to just one port of entry (the regular Multiple Entry eVisa does not).
@Thaddeus Bara, there is no mandatory waiting period between two single-entry visas for Vietnam. Once you exit the country, you can immediately apply for a new visa.
When you submit a visa appliaction, does a Vietnamese tourist visa expire after 30 days from your stated entry date, or does it expire after your stated exit date (which could be less than 30 days)?
Hello, it will be valid from the entry date you stated and will expire on the exit date you declared on the application form.
My exit day is one day before my exit on the e visa (23 days) should I make another one ? Or is there something I can do to fix it?
Hello, yes, we recommend that you apply for a new visa reflecting your updated exit date to avoid any issues during your entry/exit in Vietnam.
if my visa is shorter 1 day than my stay, can i extend the visa online?
Hello, if you leave Vietnam just one day after your visa expiry date, you can proceed directly to the airport. However, please note that in some cases, there may be a fine for the overstay, approximately 500,000 VND/day.
My visa expires on Feb 29. Can I stay until 2100 hrs on the 29th?
Yes, that is fine; the 29th of February is the last day you can stay in Vietnam. Therefore, there is no problem if your flight is at 21:00.
the visa starting date is the date of applying? or your traveling date?
@dian tong, It is valid from the date that you fill in the application form when applying for an e-visa.
hi i’m entering vietnam on the 6th for a day layover and will be returning later that day. my visa expires on the 6th can i still enter the country/ leave the airport?
@Neve Atkins, the expiry date is the last day you can enter Vietnam. However, we are not sure if you will be able to use that visa, as immigration officers will require proof of outward travel, etc.
Hello, I have missed the flight from KL to Ho Chi Minh City. I will be able to travel 1/2 days. My visa is grom 13th nov to 13cot. I will be available to travel on 14th bov or 15th nov but not in the exact date (wich is 13th nov) do I have to get a new visa?
You can travel anytime before your visa expiry date; there is no problem with entering Vietnam 1-2 days later than the entry date stated on the visa.
I've just received my e-visa and have realised I leave Vietnam the day after the exit date on my visa. Do I need to reapply for a visa or can I somehow change it or will it be ok since I'll be in Vietnam for less than 30 days?
@Niamh, The exit date on the visa is the last day you are permitted to stay in Vietnam; therefore, if you wish to stay longer or beyond the expiry date, we advise that you apply for a new visa reflecting your new dates of arrival and departure.
My girlfriend and I planned to go to Vietnam from oct 23 to nov 4th, so I got a single entry visa (valid from oct 25 to nov 25) Unfortunately we had to postpone our trip due to some delays in my girlfriend travel documents. We might have to change our arrival in Vietnam until the end of November. Is there any way I can ask for an extension? Or I need to apply for another visa.
@Kyle, Unfortunately, it is not possible to extend or amend the date on the issued visa. It is advised that you apply for a new one reflecting your new travel dates.
Hi. Is there a way to find out which entry point was given in the application form? As it seems, this information is not written on the e-visa itself - or maybe i am missing something?
@Tjasa, The port of entry and exit will not be written on the new e-visa format. Therefore, you can use it at any of the eligible ports of entry and exit.
My wife applied for our evisa at different times (couple of days different) she is a bank manager and pretty good with numbers, and on both visas we received the departure date is one day earlier than requested, cannot get any answer from evisa do you think this will be a problem, thanks for any advice you can give
@Gary rolls, There is no issue with the visa being issued one day earlier than requested; you can still arrive on your planned date.
I applied and was granted visa's for both my parents and myself, however, they got approved for longer times? Our trip is from Nov 23 to Dec 3rd and their expiry dates are January 7th but mine is December 1st - making me need a 2 day extension. Does anyone have any tips/advice or insight on how I should handle this? All applications stated January 7th as the desired expiration because I knew we were going to leave before mid-December and I created a buffer just in case - not sure what happened with my application but I am concerned. I've emailed visa support but have been unsuccessful at getting an answer.
@Brittny Castillo, The e-visa is issued based on the information provided in your application form. Therefore, we believe you may have entered the incorrect exit date on your visa application. We advise you to wait for a response from our support team or to apply for a new visa with the correct arrival and exit dates.
I am granted an evisa until november 16th. My flight was supposed to leave earlier that day, but is rescheduled until just before midnight. Is it good enough if i make sure that i check in well in advance, or is the visa exit check just before boarding (so i'm sort of illegal if the flight is delayed into the new day)?
@Rick, You can enter Vietnam one day earlier than the visa's date, but please confirm with the airline if they accept this arrangement. If not, you may need to reapply for a new visa with an adjusted arrival date.
I applied my entry date on October 8, 2023 and valid for 30 days. Can I entry Vietnam on Oct 12 instead Oct 8?
@Bonnie Kwong, Yes, you can arrive later than the date specified on the visa, however, you still need to exit Vietnam before the expiry date.
I incorrectly entered my exit date as Oct 16, but my flight out of Vietnam is on the 17. How do I fix the evisa or do I have to apply for a new one? My flight to Vietnam is on the 27.
@Billy, There may not be sufficient time to apply for a new visa if your arrival date is tomorrow. In general, exiting one day later than the visa's specified date is acceptable, but please be aware that there could be a fine of 500,000 VND for overstaying if it is enforced.
Hello, I wish to come Vietnam, and wish to have my entry point at Ho Chi Minh City and Exit from Da Nang Airport. I hope no problem of entry and exit airport is different. Also it is mandatory to mention Entry and Exit Airport in the Visa?
@Faizur, That's perfectly fine; you can enter Vietnam through HCMC and exit through Da Nang airport without any problems.
Hello, i would like to know the ĐẾN NGÀY 11/06/2023 (until) Is the last date to enter Vietnam or is it last date to exit Vietnam. Also if I would like to exit Vietnam after date of expiry, what options do I have to renew the visa or extend it?
@Chinmay, Leaving the country after the visa expiry date will be considered as 'overstaying a visa,' resulting in potential fines and impacting future visits. It is advised that you extend your visa 1-2 weeks before it expires if you wish to prolong your stay.
I entered my intended entry and exit dates for a 9 day trip, and expected the standard 30 day visa duration for tourism. However, they ended up giving me just 15 days. Is that normal? How could I extend the visa if I decide to stay longer? Should I have set the end date to 30 days from the start date to get the full 30 day duration?
@National Park Lover, The visa is issued based on the entry and exit date you provide in the form. If you intend to stay in Vietnam for a full 30 days, you can select entry and exit dates spanning the entire 30-day period, even if you exit before the visa's expiry date.
If I enter Vietnam then go to Hong Kong, can I re-enter Vietnam a few days later on the same visa?
@Gail Lockey, If your visa is a single-entry, you can only use it for one-time entry only and cannot use it again for entry from Hong Kong to Vietnam.
Does the 30 day visa expire 30 days from purchase or 30 days from arrival in Vietnam?
@Patrick Egan, The e-visa will be valid from the date that you choose on the form, not from the date that you submit your application or the date that you actually arrive in Vietnam.
Hello, I have two questions. 1) Can I leave before the stated end date of my visa? 2) I've listed my exit point as Noi Bai airport - can I still exit out of any of the approved checkpoints or does it have to be Noi Bai on the end date of my visa? Thanks!
@Alice Jones, That is fine. You can exit at any of the listed ports of entry/exit; it is not required to exit from the exact port of entry that you registered on the visa.
Can I buy exit flight once in Vietnam?
@Alison kay, Yes, that is fine. You can book your flight or outward travel when you are in Vietnam!
Hi there If I’m organising my visa today for a trip on the 1st July entering Vietnam then does my visa start from day of purchase or 30days starting 1st July
@Kylee Oldroyd-Rangi, Your visa will be valid from the date you choose on the application form, for example 01 July 2023 to 01 August 2023.
Do you have to leave the day before the expiry date or on the expiry date of your Vietnamese visa!
@thomas murray, You can exit Vietnam on the exact date stated on the visa. For example, if the visa indicates an expiry date of 15 June, you can leave on 15 June without any issues.
If I enter Vietnam on 3/27/2024 what is the last date I have to be on a plane out of the country? Not clear for a one month or 30 days Visa. Thank you.
@Donna Hoffman, For a 30 day e-visa, the last date you can stay in Vietnam would be 4/26/2024.
I will be visiting Vietnam next month, flying into Hanoi on June 15, 2023. For now, I plan on flying out of Phu Quoc on July 1, 2023. However, I may end up extending my stay and leaving as late as July 4, 2023. The evisa webiste asks for my intended departure date and exit checkpoint. However, at this point I'm not 100% sure when I'll leave and out of which checkpoint. If I just apply for the visa now entering Phu Quoc on Jul 1, 2023 as my exit date, will I have to apply for another visa if I choose to stay longer until July 4, 2023 and maybe exit from another checkpoint?
@Carmen Soo, In this case, we advise you to choose June 15, 2023 as your entry date into Hanoi and July 14, 2023 as your exit date from Phu Quoc. This will cover your whole stay in Vietnam, even if you want to extend your travel beyond July 4th.
