Yes, Indian nationals require a visa for entering Vietnam for tourism, business, or to visit family and relatives/friends. There are different types of Vietnam visas available including tourist visas, business visas, transit visas, and so on.

  • Tourist visa: Tourist visa is valid for up to 90 days with single entry.
  • Business visa: Business visa for business-related purposes has validity for up to 90 days with single and multiple entry.

How to apply for a Vietnamese visa on an Indian passport

General information

Indian passport holders are required to get a visa to enter Vietnam, and there are different ways to obtain one. You can apply for a Vietnam visa through the Vietnam e-visa system, by visiting the Vietnam Embassy or Consulate in India, or obtain a visa upon arrival in Vietnam's international airports.

Visa at the Vietnam Embassy or Consulate in India

To apply for a visa at the Embassy/Consulate in India, you need to follow the following steps:

  1. Prepare a scanned copy of your ordinary passport with 06-month validity and your original one, 02 passport-sized photos, and other required documents.
  2. Fill out and submit the application form.
  3. Pay the visa fee.
  4. Get your visa via post or in person.

Apply for e-visa online

Indian residents can apply for a Vietnam e-visa for tourism, business, and transit purposes. The e-visa allows visits to Vietnam for up to 90 days and is valid for single entry only. Here is how you can obtain a Vietnam e-visa:

  1. Visit Vietnam's official immigration website: https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn
  2. Fill out the online application form by providing personal information, passport details, and travel information.
  3. Upload a recent passport-sized photo and a scanned copy of your valid Indian passport.
  4. Pay the e-visa fee (25 USD ~ 2066 Rupees)
  5. Receive an e-visa via email within 03-05 working days.
  6. Print it out, and present it to immigration officials when arriving in Vietnam.

Apply for a visa on arrival

Passport holders in India are eligible for the visa on arrival system. This type of visa requires a pre-approved visa letter in advance and is issued at one of Vietnam’s airports upon your arrival. The process involves few simple steps as follows:

  1. Contact a travel agency or visa-processing company based in Vietnam and apply online for an approval letter using your valid passport.
  2. Submit your application and payment, then wait for 2-3 business days to receive an approval letter via email.
  3. Print out the approval letter and present it along with 02 passport-sized photos on arrival counters.
  4. Pay the stamping fee and get your visa.

@Romit, if you stay within the transit area at Hanoi airport and do not pass through customs, you will not need a visa (to visit Phu Quoc Island). However, if you need to exit the transit area for any reason, a visa will be required.

Hi I am having Indian Passport, applying for eVisa online for Vietnam on their official Visa website. I am applying from India. Whether payment via debit card or internet banking is accepted on Vietnam official Visa website? since I dont want to use credit card.

@Radhika V, sure, you can pay for the e-visa using a debit card. However, internet banking options are not available. Be sure that your debit card is enabled for international transactions (VND) to avoid any issues during payment.

Hello, that proposal is not yet approved. As of December 2023, Indian passport holders still require a valid visa for entry into Vietnam.

Halong bay: A good month for cruising as the weather is good for swimming and kayaking (Hot weather: 36/25°C, not much rain)

Da Nang, Hue, Hoi An: Great for beaches, accient town and food (Hot weather: 35°C / 26°C, not much rain)

South Central

Nha Trang, Quy Nhon: Great for beaches (Hot weather 33°C / 25°C, not much rain)

  • Indian passport holders are eligible for the e-visa program. You can visit this page for information on the procedures and required documents.
